Bukit Larut, formerly known as Maxwell Hill, was built 100 years ago by a British Residence of Perak, Mr. George Maxwell, and was one of the earliest hill resorts to be built in Malaysia. At a height of 1,250 meter from sea level, the resort is accessible by tar road built in 1948s'. Land Rover is the only transport tool provided by the Perak Government. It takes about 30 minutes to reach the resort at 1,036 meter from sea level. The journey took about 72 sharp turns and every turn at every two minutes journey. Temperature at daytime is around 15-25 o C and at night, about 10 o C. It received one of the highest rainfall 198 inch per year in Malaysia. To run away and enjoy free-flow traffic, fresh country air, cool, clean breeze with only the sound of rustling palms against a backdrop orchestra of waves is a constant quest for city folks. The quest can end at the Bukit Larut Hill Resort. Bukit Larut is a cool and calm resort away from noisy and polluted city. Fully furnished Bungalows and rest houses are provided. Tourists can bring their own food or hire a cook to prepare their lunch and dinner. Outdoor camping facility, for a group of 60 persons, is provided and furnished with toilet.
